Sydney Lucas, MA, MBA
Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (TX)
Licensed Professional Counselor (PA)
Sydney is originally from Texas and has lived all over the Lone Star State. Raised in DFW, college at TAMU, summers in Austin, fell in love in El Paso and had both her children in Houston. Sydney has been in Western PA for more than three years, now. She is enjoying how kind and welcoming the people have been. She holds a BS is Psychology and her MA in Biblical Counseling is from Dallas Theological Seminary. She later went back and got her MBA with a Management focus from Dallas Baptist University. She has been licensed in Texas since 2001 and has worked in several mental health environments including: foster care, community mental health and psychiatric hospitals. One of her favorite things is supervising students and “interns” or “pre-licensed” counselors. Sydney had the benefit of some amazing supervisors and some not so great ones too, so she wants to help bring more excellent counselors into the world. Her specialty is working with adults with depression and anxiety and also couples to strengthen their marriage. Sydney is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist but also leaves room to meet the client where they are at with what they need. She is an approved Gottman Seven Principles Leader and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the American Counseling Association. Sydney also has a certificate in Tele-Mental Health and Digital Ethics through the Zur Institute. She prays she can be an empty vessel in the counseling room and that God would be the One who is seen and heard, not her. Sydney lives in the Murrysville area with her husband and kids and they attend Cornerstone Church. Her hobbies include reading, working out in their new-ish basement gym, and drinking coffee. Her favorite color is blue. You can see her intro video on the Blogs & Vlogs page, or click here: https://youtu.be/mgHvUx1vkRo
I’m Mara and I’m excited to meet you all. I am 26 years old and I was born and raised in a small town near Pittsburgh, PA. I graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. I am currently an online Master of Arts in Clinical Counselling student at Colorado Christian University. During my graduate studies I have worked as an Autistic Support Paraprofessional at a local elementary school.
I have a passion to work with children, teenagers and young adults. I want to be able to help them overcome any obstacles or challenges in their way that are keeping them from being their most awesome self.
My counseling orientation, as of now, is utilizing a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, stress management, increasing self-worth, incorporation of meditation, and anxiety reduction. I also am a Christian and believe in utilizing scripture and prayer, when requested. I look forward to working with you!
